Clay Covered Tea Pot

Covered this tea pot with slices from my polymer clay canes.  I love, love, love it!!!!!!  It took me two days to completely cover this thing.  I really like the look I get when I reduce the canes really small, but boy was it time consuming!!

Scrap Clay Idea

After I made the bowl out of misc. beads, I got to thinking now can I do the same thing with scrap clay?

The answer is YES!!  Dug around in my kitchen so see what would fit in my toaster oven and found a tin pie pan.   Found some scrap clay and conditioned it cut into pieces, then put the pieces through the pasta machine so they would all be the same thickness.  Formed the pieces around the pie tin and baked.  I then separated the clay from the tin while it was still warm and pliable.

Faux Ceramic Bead

I attempted to make a faux ceramic bead.  I used a mixture of liquid polymer clay and alcohol ink for the glaze.  The glaze mixture I used didn't leave the shiny finish I was looking for, so I added a coat of varnish and that seemed to really make a difference.  I may try this again using a little bit thicker coat of the liquid clay to see if it adds any more depth..
